UW Philosophy Writing Center
Many students do not realize that the requirements for a philosophy paper can be very different from the requirements for papers in other departments. In a philosophy paper, you will be expected to explicate and to critically evaluate arguments in your readings, to carefully formulate and argue for your own philosophical views, and to defend your views against relevant objections. The undergraduate tutors at the Philosophy Writing Center can help you to improve the quality of your philosophical writing by helping you to develop these skills. The writing center tutor this quarter is Andrej Markovčič.
Philosophy Writing Center Policies
- If a student schedules more than one appointment in a single week, we reserve the right to cancel one of the appointments in order to accommodate as many students as possible.
- If a student is not able to come to a scheduled appointment, she must notify the writing center by email. Any student who fails to notify the writing center before she misses an appointment will be considered a no-show. Please note that a student who is more than 10 minutes late to her scheduled appointment without notifying the writing center will also be considered a no-show.
- Any student who has two no-shows in one quarter will not be allowed to schedule further appointments through the remainder of the quarter.
